An 8ft 6in Broadwood straight-strung concert grand from the 1870s with rosewood case in working order for only £4,995
Copied from the famous 1769 Pascal Taskin harpsichord in the Russell collection in Edinburgh, this must be one of London’s most frequently heard and seen harpsichords - it goes EVERYWHERE!
With 2 x 8’ stops, a 4’ stop and buff (with a peau-de buffle stop also available if required) this fine harpsichord, made by David Rubio in 1974, has the ultimate “romantic harpsichord” sound so characteristic of the late French makers.
This is a large - and powerful - Italian harpsichord with the full 63-note compass with two 8’ stops, one operated by knee-lever, which is available for hire for concerts and recording sessions.
Made for us in 1978, this lovely copy of a Heilmann fortepiano of 1785 by Derek Adlam is probably the most frequently-heard fortepiano anywhere in the UK, having done innumerable seasons for Glyndebourne, Glyndebourne Touring Opera, Garsington, Grange Park Opera, English National Opera, The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and literally dozens of Haydn ‘Creation’ and ‘The Seasons’ performances at venues from small local churches to the Royal Albert Hall (including a memorable performance early in this summer’s Proms season of ‘The Seasons’ performed by The Handel & Haydn Society of Boston, conducted by Roger Norrington.)
